COLÓN Theatre

Architecture is the language of the cities, and is the physical expression of a society. We design places and spaces for, above all, human activity; for the encounter, the meeting, the discussion, the decision, the plan, the idea. Usually in Latin American cities in places associated with some power (governmental or religious), we can see how these constructed social spaces are related more to cultural activities, that is to say the museums, libraries, theatres, the spaces between knowledge and questions.
Museums and libraries are catalogues of information and ideas which are available for users to be learned, understood and transformed to create anew. The theatres have the distinction of being a living expression, immediate manifestation or representation of ideas. They involve a plot, setting and action, the same elements as everyday life, but in this case they are imaginary representations. This proposal seeks to go beyond representation and convert the Teatro Colon into a cultural landmark building, an incubator of new ideas and transformative thinking.
The building consists of a large platform that relates to three main volumes where the activity of the show and the technical support is accommodated.
